As we all know, this year marks the 40th anniversary of Star Wars.
Now ten years ago, for the 30th anniversary, celebration in honor of it was huge, it was beautiful. There was live coverage of it on TV (hosted by G4's Attack of the Show hosts at Celebration IV), not to mention a glorious replay of it afterwards the same night. (I caught this just in time for the interview with the Fetts. Hey, you can never watch Fetts too many times as far as I'm concerned!) And, there were ultra-special collectibles including postage stamps and the (then) new wave of figs that came with commemorative coins that filled store shelves, enticing the eyes. All things that make you feel so good, in the spirit of the celebration.
That was 2007, aka part of "the good ol'days" particularly where figs are concerned. And here we are in 2017, where figs on shelves are pretty sparse.
My hope is that the 40th anniversary is celebrated in the glorious spirit that the 30th was, and then some! And yes, this hope includes a very sexy wave of figs, like a decade ago. (I know, delusional, right? Well, frankly my dear, I don't give a damn, or however that goes.)
My woe is that 40th is gonna be kinda eh (in comparison). I think it's because Disney is busy juggling a bunch of stuff at once that they don't really have the time to put in quite that much effort. (Who knows? Maybe I'll be wrong here? We'll see when the time comes.)
Well, that's it for me. Leave your hopes and/or woes here. Toodles! ;-)
